NEW TRANSYLVANIAN ART CENTER

Within the international design competition, the large-scale building (30,000 m²) planned for Sfântu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyörgy) incorporates the new concert hall of the Székely Land Philharmonic, the Tamási Áron Theatre, the Bod Péter County Library, the M Studio, the Cimborák Puppet Theatre, and the EMÜK gallery.

In our design, we sought answers to the questions of what a distinctive, contemporary Transylvanian public building might look like, and what can be carried forward from the region's specific architectural traditions without these becoming mere formal imitation.
